About Leco
Leco is an award-winning Director of Photography and photographer working between Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles. With a career spanning feature films, documentaries, music videos, and high-end editorial photography, his work has been showcased at major international film festivals and published in leading magazines worldwide. Alongside his cinematic work, Leco has collaborated with global brands such as Dior, Nike, Airbnb, ZARA, and Tods - bringing a distinctive, cinematic sensibility to fashion, commercial, and editorial storytelling.
How do you define beauty in your work, and what elements do you consider essential to achieving it?
A photograph should speak by itself. I’m always looking for that magic moment.
What rituals or routines do you follow when starting a new project? Is there something that always sparks your creativity?
Not much preparation goes into it, mostly just look at some refs, but keep it pretty loose. Improvising on the go is my thing.
Is there a specific piece you've created that feels like a perfect reflection of your aesthetic vision? What makes it so special to you?
My first Zara Man campaign in 2024 was a very passionate one, since I grew up going to Zara stores with my mom since I was little. I made that one for her.
When editing photos, do you have a go-to soundtrack or playlist that sets the mood? How does music influence your creative flow?
Always jazz!
